The term "diode cables" is a relict from early days of HiFitechnology when valves were used in the output sections of amplifiers. Today diode cables are the name for cables for recording and/or play connections between stereo components.
Because of the standardized high input resistance (47 kΩ) cables are necessary with low capacitance to avoid a decrease in the higher frequency range.
